Our Commitment
Blackburn & Williams Orthodontics is committed to making blackburnortho.com (the “Site”) accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone in our community should be able to find information about our practice, request an appointment, and communicate with our team without barriers.
Conformance Target
We work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, cognitive, motor, and neurological impairments. We are also working to align with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as it applies to healthcare digital services.
What We Have Done
To improve accessibility, we have taken the following steps:
- Added a published Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Cookie Policy, and this Accessibility Statement.
- Reviewed images on the Site for descriptive alternative text that conveys their meaning to screen readers.
- Reviewed the contact form to ensure every input has a visible label and clear error messaging.
- Adopted semantic HTML landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) so assistive technologies can move through pages predictably.
- Provided a “skip to main content” link at the top of each page for keyboard users.
- Added an accessibility widget that lets visitors adjust contrast, text size, link emphasis, and other display options on the fly.
Ongoing Work
Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project. We periodically audit the Site, train our team on accessible content practices, and act on feedback we receive from visitors. If you encounter a barrier on the Site, please tell us. We will make a reasonable effort to address it.
Compatibility
The Site is designed to work with current versions of the major desktop and mobile browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge), and to be usable with common assistive technologies, including screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack), screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, and keyboard-only navigation. Some content provided by third-party tools may not be fully accessible. We work with our providers to close those gaps as quickly as possible.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some content on the Site may not yet be fully accessible. Known areas of ongoing work include:
- Older blog posts may use images without complete alternative text. We are auditing and updating these.
- Some patient forms are being migrated from PDF to a fully accessible HTML format through our intake provider.

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the Site. If you encounter a barrier, or if you need information from the Site in a different format, please let us know. We will do our best to provide the information you need in an accessible format and to use your feedback to improve the Site.
